Lady Sharks Looking to Make a Splash in the Post-season.

The MDC Woman's Softball team finished conference play at .500 and finished third in the Southern Conference with a 10-10 record. With their current standing, the Lady Sharks qualify for the 2017 FCSAA Softball State Tournament in Vero Beach, FL.

MDC Softball has a 2-4 W-L ratio from the last six games played. The ladies began with a 9-1 win against Broward College and continued with another 7-3 win against the same team. MDC then went on to lose against Indian River State with a 2-0 score and lost every game hereafter.

Contrary to the Lady Sharks overall record (17-26), the team is looking to make a splash in the post-season. MDC Softball has a couple of freshmen who helped lead the charge to qualify for the state tournament.  Second baseman, Yurie Hampton, has 18 RBIs, 30 runs, and has a slugging average of .381. In addition, pitcher and infielder Kiana East has 22 RBIs, 24 runs, and has a .434 slugging average.

The MDC Woman's Softball team's regular season is coming to a close with two more games against State College of Florida. The Lady Sharks' next game will be tomorrow Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 4:00 PM at SCF.
