Sharks Fall in Extra-Inning Battle Against Indian River, 8–5
The Sharks couldn't hold off a late surge from Indian River State College, falling 8–5 in a 10-inning thriller despite a strong start and double-digit hit total. Miami Dade led most of the way, but a critical sixth inning and a costly 10th allowed the Pioneers to escape with the win.
The Sharks jumped out early with a three-run first inning, highlighted by RBI singles from Santiago Carriles-Alvarado and Willy Mendez. Miami Dade padded its lead with additional runs in the fourth and sixth, maintaining a 5–2 advantage heading into the late innings.
However, the tide turned in the sixth when Indian River capitalized on two errors by shortstop Jendy Gonzalez, turning them into four unearned runs. A clutch two-RBI double by Jacob Suazo tied the game at 5–5, swinging the momentum firmly in the Pioneers' favor.
Despite a dominant effort from Enrique Sierra (5.0 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 8 K), Miami Dade's bullpen couldn't hold off Indian River's offense in extra innings. Luis Lorenzo was tagged with the loss after surrendering three runs in the 10th, including an RBI single by Jason Lashley and a two-run knock by Matty Davis. The final blow came as Miami Dade was unable to respond in the bottom half despite having 11 hits on the day.
Carriles-Alvarado led the offense with a 3-for-4 performance and two RBIs, while Mendez and Talan Beckford each drove in a run. Michael Petite added two hits, two runs, and a stolen base.
Indian River's bullpen was the difference-maker, as Justin Minaberry delivered 4.1 shutout innings of relief with nine strikeouts to earn the win. Miami Dade left 11 runners on base and struck out 15 times, struggling to capitalize late.
