Miami Dade Edges Out Eastern Florida 3–2 Behind Strong Pitching
Miami Dade picked up a gritty 3–2 win over Eastern Florida State College, fueled by clutch hitting and solid work from the mound.
After falling behind 2–1 in the fourth inning due to a costly error, Miami Dade battled back. In the fifth, Talan Beckford came through with a big RBI single to tie the game, scoring Cian Copeland, who had reached on one of his two hits of the night. Then, in the seventh, David Zamora scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch, putting Miami Dade ahead for good.
On the mound, Enrique Sierra delivered 5.1 strong innings, allowing just three hits and no earned runs while striking out seven. Jordan Vargas came on in relief and shut the door, tossing 1.2 innings of scoreless ball to earn the win.
Offensively, Miami Dade scattered seven hits, with Copeland leading the way at 2-for-4 and Beckford and Denixon Suarez each driving in a run. Willy Mendez and Copeland both added key doubles to keep the pressure on Eastern Florida's pitching staff.
Eastern Florida State was limited to just five hits, despite a two-RBI performance from Shane Thomas. Landen Moore took the loss for Eastern Florida after surrendering the winning run in the final inning.
With the victory, Miami Dade continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
