Petite Bound for VCU After Two Standout Seasons with the Sharks
After two electric years at Miami Dade College, outfielder Michael Petite is taking his talents to Virginia Commonwealth University. Known for his speed, power, and ability to get on base, Petite leaves the Sharks as one of the program's most productive hitters in recent years.
As a freshman in 2023-24, Petite hit .291 with 48 hits, 7 doubles, 4 triples, and 9 home runs, driving in 35 runs and scoring 61. His plate discipline stood out with a .494 on-base percentage and 59 walks, while his 20 stolen bases made him a constant threat on the basepaths.
He elevated his game even further in 2024-25, batting .367 with 61 hits, 14 doubles, 2 triples, and 12 home runs, producing 41 RBIs and another 61 runs scored. Petite posted a stellar .547 OBP, .693 slugging percentage, and swiped 22 more bags.
Over his two-year career, Petite appeared in 108 games, slashing .329/.520/.619 with 109 hits, 21 doubles, 6 triples, 21 home runs, 76 RBIs, and 42 stolen bases. His combination of patience at the plate, extra-base power, and game-changing speed now heads to VCU, where he'll join a Rams program competing in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
