Bio

Blake Peterson, a native of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, brings a wealth of experience and success to his new role as an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Miami Dade College (MDC). With a proven track record in coaching at various levels of the game, Peterson is poised to impact the MDC team significantly.

Before joining MDC, Peterson was an assistant men's basketball coach at Iowa Central Community College from 2019 to 2023, contributing to the team's success. His coaching abilities were recognized early on when he was appointed as the head men's basketball coach at Southwestern for one season, following a successful stint as an assistant for the same team. Under his leadership, the Spartans achieved remarkable results, with a 29-8 overall record and a third-place finish at the NJCAA DII National Championships in the 2017-18 season.

Peterson's coaching career also spans other esteemed institutions, including Bemidji State University, Saint Mary's University, and Minnesota State University. At Saint Mary's, he played a pivotal role in leading the team to its most successful season in two decades. Meanwhile, his tenure at Minnesota State University saw the team qualify for the NCAA Div. II National Tournament for three consecutive years, amassing an impressive 82-18 record.

With a strong foundation in communication studies, Peterson earned a bachelor's degree from Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minnesota. This educational background, alongside his coaching prowess, positions him as a well-rounded and knowledgeable assistant coach who will undoubtedly contribute to the success of the MDC men's basketball program.
