Bio
Born in Medellín, Colombia, and raised in South Florida, Juan Rivera has dedicated his life to soccer, both as a player and a coach. A graduate of American Senior High School, Juan was a key player in the team’s 2006 Class 6A State Runner-Up finish. He continued his playing career at the collegiate level, competing for Nova Southeastern University from 2007 to 2011 while earning a bachelor's degree in Sports and Recreation Management.
Rivera transitioned into coaching immediately after college, beginning as an assistant men's coach at NSU under Giuseppe DePalo from 2012 to 2016. His passion for player development led him to club coaching, where he spent six years with Pinecrest Premier. Since 2018, he has been coaching the U18 DPL girls' team at Miami Futbol Academy Rush MLS Next Club, where he also serves as the Director of Operations.
Now the assistant coach for Miami Dade College’s men’s soccer team, Rivera brings extensive coaching experience, tactical expertise, and a deep commitment to mentoring student-athletes. He holds both an NSCAA College National Diploma and an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, further showcasing his dedication to the sport.
