Southern Conference Summary

As the MDC Softball Team season came to a close, let's go down memory lane. The Lady Sharks kicked off the Southern Conference, playing against the Florida Southwestern State College on March 22 in the doubleheader. These were challenging games for the Sharks, and they did their very best, but unfortunately, the Buccaneers prevailed in the end with the final scores of 1-5 and 0-3.On March 24, the Lady Sharks played against Hillsborough Community College and Florida Southwestern State College. During the Hillsborough Community College game, Taylor Clayton batted .600 with one run and RBI. Arianna Thomason batted .333 with two runs. Also, Alexis Ortega had two RBIs. Unfortunately, the Lady Sharks lost this game by one run with a final score of 5-6. The Lady Sharks' next game did not go as well against Florida Southwestern State College; the Sharks lost 0-12.On March 29, the Lady Sharks played a doubleheader against Indian River State College. Unfortunately, the Lady Sharks lost both games with the final score of 2-8 and 0-8.On April 1, the Lady Sharks played against Eastern Florida State College and Hillsborough Community College. The Lady Sharks defeated the Titans with the final score of 2-1. Due to the weather, the Sharks' second game was canceled.On April 5, the Lady Sharks played a doubleheader against Eastern Florida State College. The Sharks lost the first game by one run with the final score of 2-1. Naomi Suzuki went two for three at the plate in the first game with one run. During the second game, Maria Navarro went two for four at the plate with one run and RBI. Jimena Kunigami went one for four at the plate with two runs and one RBI.On April 7, the Lady Sharks played against Indian River State College and Hillsborough Community College. During the game against Indian River, Taylor Clayton went four for four at the plate with one run and three RBIs. Maria Navarro went two for five at the plate with two runs and two RBIs. The Sharks lost the first game by one run with the final score of 7-8. During the game against Hillsborough, Chryssia Catalan went one for two at the plate with two runs, and Atavya Fowler also went one for two at the plate with one run and RBI. The Sharks lost the second game by two runs, with the final score of 7-9.On April 15, the Lady Sharks played a doubleheader against Indian River State College. Unfortunately, the Pioneers defeated the Sharks with the final score of 0-4 and 0-8. On April 19, the Lady Sharks played a doubleheader against Eastern Florida State College. Unfortunately, the Titans beat the Sharks with final scores of 1-4 and 0-4. The Lady Sharks' last game was on April 24 against Florida Southwestern State College. Unfortunately, this game was not in the Sharks' favor, with the final score 0-7.The Lady Sharks have concluded this season with a record of 2-12 in the conference and an overall record of 14-26. Even though this season has not gone as well as one would wish for but like, Giannis Antetokounmpo said, "There is no failure in sports, but steps to success."
