Sharks Unleash 14-Hit Attack in 12–4 Win Over St. Thomas
Miami, FL- That's the Miami Dade lineup when it's clicking.
The Sharks erupted for 12 runs on 14 hits and never let St. Thomas University recover, cruising to a 12–4 victory in six innings.
Miami Dade set the tone immediately, plating four runs in the first inning behind aggressive baserunning and sharp situational hitting. Jaylene Mieres, Alyssa Densmore, and Leyani Viruet all drove in runs in the opening frame as the Sharks forced early defensive miscues and applied pressure from top to bottom.
Caroline Mito sparked the offense all afternoon, finishing 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Viruet matched her with three hits and two RBIs, while Mieres added two RBIs and two runs. Densmore recorded two hits and an RBI, and Makayla Deleon chipped in two hits and a run driven in.
Even after St. Thomas put up a four-spot in the third to trim the lead to one, Miami Dade responded like a veteran group. The Sharks answered immediately and continued to widen the gap, scoring in five of the six innings and capitalizing on four St. Thomas errors.
On the bases, Miami Dade was relentless with multiple players swiping bags, including two steals each from Mito and Coral Latshaw, keeping constant pressure on the defense.
In the circle, Ava Salvino earned the win, going six innings while allowing seven hits and four runs (two earned). After the third-inning rally, she settled in and shut the door the rest of the way.
