Eastern Florida State Completes Sweep with 8-0 Win Over Miami Dade
Miami, FL - Miami Dade was unable to recover from an early surge by Eastern Florida State, falling 8-0 in Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader.
The Titans wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for six runs in the opening inning behind a flurry of hits. Eastern Florida State strung together five RBI knocks in the frame, quickly putting the Sharks in an early deficit they could not climb out of.
Miami Dade struggled to generate momentum offensively against Avery Velazquez, who tossed a complete-game shutout. The Sharks managed just four hits on the afternoon, with Caroline Mito leading the way with a pair of hits, while Makayla Deleon and Leyani Viruet each added one.
After the first inning, Miami Dade settled in defensively. Ella Brooks provided stability out of the bullpen, working five innings and allowing just two runs while limiting further damage against a potent Titans lineup that finished with 17 hits.
However, the early deficit loomed large. Eastern Florida State added two more runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 8-0, capitalizing on continued offensive pressure to put the game out of reach.
Miami Dade had limited opportunities, drawing two walks and leaving seven runners on base, but could not find the timely hit to break through.
The loss completes the doubleheader sweep for Eastern Florida State, as Miami Dade looks to regroup heading into its next conference matchup.
