Sharks Rally Late to Edge Indian River State, 3-2
Miami, FL - Miami Dade used a late push to flip the game and secure a 3-2 win over Indian River State in a tightly contested Region 8 matchup.
After falling behind in the opening inning, the Sharks settled in and gradually worked their way back. Indian River State took a 1-0 lead on an RBI double in the first, but Miami Dade kept the deficit within reach behind a composed outing from Ava Salvino in the circle.
The breakthrough came in the fifth, when Valeria Rivera delivered a sacrifice to bring home the tying run. Miami Dade carried that momentum into the sixth, capitalizing on defensive miscues to take the lead. The Sharks plated two runs in the inning, both unearned, to move in front 3-1 without recording a hit.
Ava Salvino went the distance, allowing two runs on nine hits while limiting further damage and working out of multiple jams. Indian River State threatened throughout, but Miami Dade's defense made key plays when it mattered most.
The River pulled within one in the seventh, but the Sharks held firm to close out the win.
Caroline Mito led the offense with two hits, while Alyssa Densmore and Maria Julia Pedroso each added a hit. Despite striking out 10 times, Miami Dade made the most of its opportunities, using timely execution and pressure to secure the victory.
Miami Dade continues to show resilience in close games, grinding out another win behind pitching and late-inning execution.
