Sharks Complete Road Sweep with 11–3 Win Over Hillsborough
Tampa, FL - Miami Dade completed the sweep with another decisive performance, taking Game 2 over Hillsborough, 11–3, behind early offense and steady pitching in a five-inning win.
The Sharks set the tone right away in the first. Makayla Deleon opened the scoring with an RBI single to bring in Caroline Mito, and Alyssa Densmore followed with a run-scoring knock of her own. Sofia Reyes capped the three-run frame with an RBI single to center, giving Miami Dade a quick 3–0 edge.
Hillsborough answered with a run in the bottom half, but the Sharks responded immediately with a five-run second inning to take full control. Mito drove in a run with a single, Deleon reached on an error that plated another, and Densmore stayed hot with an RBI single. Miami Dade continued to capitalize on defensive miscues, adding two more runs in the inning to stretch the lead to 8–1.
The lineup kept rolling in the third. Jessica Ortiz tripled to drive in a run, Mito followed with an RBI single, and Densmore delivered again with her third hit and third RBI of the game to push the margin to 11–1.
Hillsborough scratched across two runs in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to slow the Sharks' momentum.
At the plate, Miami Dade produced 12 hits with multiple standout performances. Densmore finished a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, while Mito went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored. Cate Haggerty and Ortiz each added multi-hit efforts, with Ortiz also recording a triple and driving in a run.
In the circle, Ava Salvino earned the win, tossing a complete game and allowing just three runs, none earned, while striking out four. Miami Dade's defense bent at times but avoided major damage, and the offense provided more than enough support.
