Women's Basketball Fall Semester Recap
Three top players
As the first half of the season for the MDC Women's Basketball Team has come to a close, this season has been a challenging one. The Lady Sharks have had some difficult opponents, such as Eastern Florida State, Northwest Florida State, Pensacola State, and Indian River. Even with a challenging schedule and an overall record of 3-15, we would like to highlight some players who gave it their all and left it all on the court no matter how difficult the opponents were: Genesis Alarcon, Iva Cholakoska, and Lianyi Becquer Leblanch.
Genesis Alarcon is a sophomore from Buena Fe, Los Rios, Ecuador, who started in 16 out of 18 games. Genesis had an average of 4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.
Iva Cholakoska is a freshman from Struga, Macedonia, who started in 11 out of 18 games. Iva had an average of 12.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
Lianyi Becquer Leblanch is a freshman from Cuba who started in 13 out of 18 games. Lianyi had an average of 11.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game.
As the Lady Sharks prepare for the second half of the season, let's wish them good luck and hope for a better second-half season.
