It's a Wrap
Southern Conference Summary
MDC Women's Basketball Team opened the second half of their season, and Southern Conference played against Hillsborough Community College and Montgomery College on January 7th and 8th. Unfortunately, the second half of the Lady Sharks' season did not go as the team had hoped. The Lady Sharks concluded the season and the conference with a record of 2-7 and an overall record of 5-23. We want to highlight some players who gave it their all and left it all on the court, no matter how difficult the opponents were: Jaya Nelson, Lianyi Becquer Leblanch, and Aichatou Camara.
Jaya Nelson, a Sophomore from Tucson, AZ, scored over 20 points in four games, with her season-highest of 33 points against Hillsborough Community College. Nelson also shot 51 % from the three-point line during the second half of the season. Nelson was also named First-Team of All-Southern Conference.
Lianyi Becquer Leblanch, a Freshman from Cuba, scored ten or more points in four games, with her highest score of the season of 29 points. Leblanch was also named First Team of the All-Southern Conference.
Aichatou Camara, a Sophomore from Dakar, Senegal, scored ten or more points in four games, with her highest score of the season of 23 points. Camara was also named Second-Team of All-Southern Conference.
Thank you, ladies, for all your hard work and dedication throughout this challenging season.
