Massiel Matos Helps the Dominican Republic Win the NORCECA U20 Title and a FIVB WCH Ticket
In addition to helping the Dominican Republic win the NORCECA U20 Title, Massiel Matos was also named the tournament's Best Server, and Best Opposite.
MDC's volleyball player Massiel Matos helped her home country (Dominican Republic) win the NORCECA Women's U-20 Continental Championship title Sunday, July 31, 2016, in Ft.Lauderdale, FL. The DR defeated the United States 3-1 (sets: 25-22, 25-14, 23-25, 25-17). In addition to winning the NORCECA U20 Title, the Dominican Republic also won a ticket to the 2017 FIVB age-group World Championship.
Matos contributed to her country's win with 20 points on 15 kills, and 5 blocks. She was named the tournament's Best Server, and Best Opposite.
The Dominican Republic finished the tournament ranked first. The final standing went in this order: 1. Dominican Republic; 2. United States; 3. Cuba; 4. Puerto Rico; 5. Mexico; 6. Costa Rica; 7. Haiti; 8. French St. Martin.
