Lady Sharks qualified for NJCAA National Championships!!
The Lady Sharks Volleyball team traveled to Melbourne, FL, to participate in FCSAA/NJCAA Division I Southeast State/District Tournament on November 4-6, 2022.
On November 4, the Lady Sharks played Polk State College and defeated the Eagles in three sets. On November 5, the Lady Sharks played in the Championship Match against Florida Southwestern State College. Unfortunately, the Sharks were defeated by the Buccaneers in three sets. MDC Volleyball finished second in the State for the first time in six years. On November 6, Our Lady Sharks played in the NJCAA Division I Southeast District B Championship Match to qualify for NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championship Tournament. The Lady Sharks played against Spartanburg Methodist and won in three sets. The Sharks will be heading to West Plains, Missouri, for an opportunity to compete in the NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championship Tournament. Outside hitter Romina Cornelio was named FCSAA Player of the Year while also being named to the FCSAA All-State/All-NJCAA Region 8 Team, All-Tournament Team, First Team All-Suncoast Conference, and Suncoast Conference Player of the Year. She is joined on the FCSAA All-Tournament, FCSAA All-State/All-NJCAA Region 8, and First Team All-Suncoast Conference Teams by teammates Ana Tevdoradze and Alexandra Koleva. Sophomores Kiaraliz Perez and Jazmin Vergara were named to the All-Suncoast Conference Second team.
