Sharks move to 6-0
The Miami Dade Sharks swept Hillsborough Community College Hawks in three sets to kick off their conference schedule.
In the first set, the Sharks took control with 13 kills and just 2 errors, hitting .333, while the Hawks struggled, managing only 9 kills with 8 errors (.029). The second set saw Hillsborough falter further with a negative hitting percentage (-.161), committing 10 errors and only 5 kills, while the Sharks continued their efficient play with 11 kills and a .321 percentage.
Hillsborough improved slightly in Set 3 with 9 kills and 3 errors for a .171 percentage, but the Sharks offense surged with 19 kills and 9 errors, closing out the match at .217.
Key performers for Miami Dade included Luana Borsatto and Katielle Altagracia Alonzo Vargas, both contributing 9 kills. Borsatto added 3 aces, while Alonzo Vargas had an impressive .467 hitting percentage. Setter Maria Clara Antunes played a critical role with 20 assists and 7 digs.
Libero Mia Martinez held it down on the defensive end recording 20 digs and adding 6 aces.
The Sharks squad will travel tomorrow to College of Southern Idaho to take part of the Starr Invitational.
