Miami Dade College Stays Unbeaten with Sweep of Laramie County Community College
The Miami Dade College Sharks continued their impressive start to the season, improving to 9-0 with a dominant 3-0 sweep over Laramie County Community College. The Sharks won decisively with set scores of 25-17, 25-21, and 25-16, maintaining their unbeaten streak.
Miami Dade was highly efficient on offense, posting a .413 hitting percentage as a team. In the first set, they tallied 20 kills and hit .395, setting the tone for the match. They continued to apply pressure in the second and third sets, hitting .394 and .464, respectively.
Katielle Altagracia Alonzo Vargas led the Sharks' attack with 13 kills on a .524 hitting percentage, while Luana Borsatto contributed 12 kills and 2 service aces, finishing with 14 points. The duo of Maria Clara Antunes and Luiza Da Cruz handled the offense with 25 and 15 assists, respectively.
Defensively, Mia Martinez filled up the stat sheet with 16 digs, 2 kills and a service ace, contributing to her all-around performance.
Miami Dade's depth was also on display, with contributions from Angelica Rodriguez, who added 5 kills, and Luyeisy Marquez, who posted 5 kills and 5.5 points. The Sharks' blocking game was solid, registering 3 solo blocks and 4 block assists.
The Sharks will look to close out their weekend in Idaho as they take on host College of Southern Idaho.
