Sharks sweep the Hawks
The Miami Dade Sharks volleyball team continued its unbeaten streak with a commanding win over the Hillsborough Community College Hawks, sweeping the match in straight sets (25-10, 25-12, 25-9). With a .330 hitting percentage across three sets, the Sharks showcased their offensive depth and defensive prowess to maintain their perfect season.
In the opening frame, Miami Dade set the tone early, registering 15 kills on a .370 hitting clip. The Sharks were in sync offensively, building momentum that Hillsborough could not match.
The Sharks kept the pressure on in the second set, hitting .355 while committing just two errors. With stellar ball distribution from setter Maria Clara Antunes, who dished out 18 assists, Miami Dade cruised through the set with ease.
The third set saw the Sharks seal the deal, hitting .278 with seven players contributing to the scoreboard. Esthefany Rabit led the attack with 8 kills on 11 attempts, boasting a blistering .636 hitting percentage. Luyeisy Marquez contributed in all phases, recording 7 kills, 2 aces, and 4 total blocks, tallying 11 points. Angelica Rodriguez was equally effective, notching 8 kills and adding a block for 9.5 points while Mia Martinez held down the back line with 18 digs.
The Sharks will take the next few days off before traveling across Alligator Alley to face off against the #2 ranked Florida Southwestern Buccaneers in a rematch of September 17th's five set thriller.
