Miami Dade College Volleyball Game Postponed as Hurricane Idalia Approaches
Miami, FL - August 28, 2023 - Miami Dade College (MDC) regrets to announce the postponement of the highly anticipated volleyball game against Santa Fe College, initially scheduled for August 30 at 6:00 p.m. The decision comes in response to the projected trajectory of Hurricane Idalia, which is set to make landfall in Florida.
In light of the potential risks associated with the approaching hurricane, the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, staff, and fans remain our top priority. MDC's Athletics Director, Mike Balado, emphasized the college's commitment to ensuring the welfare of all individuals involved.
"Due to the projected trajectory of Hurricane Idalia set to hit landfall in Florida, our game vs. Santa Fe College has been postponed to a later date," said Athletics Director Mike Balado. "Though we would like our student-athletes to compete in our scheduled matches, their safety and well-being are a top priority. We here at Miami Dade hope all those in the possible path stay safe and healthy."
The Miami Dade College Athletics Department appreciates the understanding and support of the fans, student-athletes, and coaches during this challenging time. We remain committed to providing a safe environment for all our student-athletes, and we extend our thoughts and best wishes to those who may be affected by Hurricane Idalia in the coming days.
