Sharks Held to Two Hits in 7–0 Loss at Central Florida
Ocala, FL – The Miami Dade Sharks were limited offensively in game one of Saturday's doubleheader, falling 7–0 to the College of Central Florida after the Patriots used a pair of multi-run innings to pull away.
The Sharks managed just two hits on the afternoon as Central Florida's pitching staff controlled the game from the start. Jendy Gonzalez and Willy Mendez accounted for Miami Dade's only hits, while the Patriots' starter Lance Hartley struck out 10 over six scoreless innings to keep the Sharks from generating sustained offense.
Miami Dade kept the game scoreless through the first three innings behind a solid start from Luke Helms, but Central Florida broke through in the fourth with two runs before adding five more in the fifth inning, highlighted by a grand slam from Jose Correa that extended the lead to 7–0.
Helms allowed two runs across four innings with five strikeouts before Andy Mesa and Jesus Moreno combined to finish the game in relief. Despite the loss, Miami Dade's pitching staff recorded six strikeouts while working through traffic against a Central Florida lineup that finished with eight hits.
