Sharks Fan 20 in 3–1 Win Over Millenia Atlantic
Miami, FL - The Miami Dade College pitching staff turned in a clinic on the mound, piling up 20 strikeouts in a dominant 3–1 victory over Millenia Atlantic University on Tuesday evening.
From the first pitch, the Sharks set the tone.
Devin Grazzal opened the afternoon with two scoreless innings and five punchouts, attacking the zone early and often. Jordan Bermudez followed with four more strikeouts across two shutout frames, keeping Millenia Atlantic off balance with sharp command.
Then Kevin Roque took over and delivered the knockout stretch with three innings, eight strikeouts, and just one run allowed. Magdiel Estevez and Jose Villegas slammed the door late, combining for three more strikeouts to secure the win and cap the 20-K performance.
At the plate, Miami Dade did just enough.
Willy Mendez led the charge, finishing 2-for-3 with a double, a solo home run, two RBI, and a walk. His first-inning double got the Sharks on the board, and his seventh-inning blast to right field provided critical insurance.
Jendy Gonzalez added a pair of hits, including an RBI double in the sixth that scored Leamsi Montañez and gave MDC the lead for good. Montañez created pressure on the bases all afternoon, swiping two bags, while Antonio Fawcett chipped in two hits and a stolen base.
Millenia Atlantic's lone run came in the sixth on a sacrifice fly, but the Sharks' staff never allowed the game to shift momentum.
Miami Dade finished with nine hits, six walks, and three stolen bases in a balanced offensive effort but the story of the day was the mound.
