Despite a promising start, the Sharks fell 4–1 to Daytona State College on Saturday afternoon.
The Sharks opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Emmanuele Serra found the back of the net off an assist from Facundo Ochoa, giving Miami Dade early momentum. Daytona State quickly responded before halftime, however, as Shelby Phanor tied the match in the 42nd minute on a feed from Carlos Rojas.
The second half belonged entirely to the Falcons, who capitalized on several defensive lapses from the Sharks. Rojas took over the match, completing a second-half hat trick with goals in the 60th, 63rd, and 66th minutes, each assisted by different teammates to put Daytona State firmly in control.
Miami Dade managed seven total shots, all on target, but couldn't break through Daytona's goalkeeper Matthew McCall, who finished with six saves. Samuel Cavo made six stops in net for the Sharks. Agustín Bezara and Eduardo Cornejo were both shown yellow cards in the match for MDC.
With the loss, Miami Dade drops to (3-8-2, 0-2-0), while Daytona State improves its record with the victory. The Sharks will look to regroup and bounce back in their next conference matchup.
