Sharks Roll Past CCBC Essex Behind Offensive Surge at Home
The Miami Dade Sharks delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Friday night, overpowering CCBC Essex 92–79 inside the Gibson Center on Saturday afternoon.
Miami Dade came out fast, posting a 25–13 first-quarter advantage with relentless pace and attacking the glass. Although Essex responded with a strong second frame, Miami Dade regained full control in the third and closed the night in dominant fashion, outscoring the Knights 26–23 in the fourth to seal the win.
Saige McCloud could not be contained. The sophomore led all scorers with 25 points on 12-for-19 shooting while grabbing eight rebounds and providing steady interior production all night long. Jazmyne Bynum filled the stat sheet with an all-around masterclass posting 21 points, 11 assists, seven rebounds and four steals while orchestrating the Sharks' tempo and serving as the heartbeat of the offense.
Riana Callihan came off the bench and gave Miami Dade a huge spark with 14 points and six boards, while forward Meredith Venner added 13 points and 11 rebounds for a well-earned double-double. In total, the Sharks saw five different players with double-figure rebounds or assists, a sign of their balance and unselfishness.
Miami Dade dominated the glass (61–52) and pushed the pace relentlessly, turning 31 assists into high-percentage scoring chances and wearing down Essex defensively.
With the victory, the Sharks continue building momentum heading into a crucial stretch of December action. They return to the floor next week as they start up the conference slate against Daytona State College.
