Sharks Fall to 5-6
Miami Dade College came up short on the road Wednesday night, falling 96–74 to Hillsborough Community College despite a strong offensive showing and balanced contributions across the lineup.
The Sharks found themselves playing from behind early, as Hillsborough jumped out to a quick first-quarter lead. Miami Dade responded in the second period, matching Hillsborough with 25 points and showing improved rhythm offensively, but entered halftime trailing 46–34.
Miami Dade continued to battle in the second half, generating consistent looks on offense and competing on the glass. Jazmyne Bynum led the charge throughout the night, pouring in a game-high 30 points while knocking down seven three-pointers. The Sharks were most effective in transition and from beyond the arc, finishing the night with 11 made threes.
Hillsborough extended its advantage in the third quarter, using a decisive run to create separation. Miami Dade answered with a strong fourth-quarter effort, scoring 23 points in the final frame, but was unable to fully close the gap.
Bynum's scoring effort was complemented by Constanza Aravena, who finished with 14 points on efficient shooting, and Saige McCloud, who added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Riana Callihan chipped in nine points, while Meredith Venner controlled the boards with 11 rebounds to anchor Miami Dade inside.
Miami Dade finished with 43 rebounds and 15 assists, showing flashes of cohesion and depth despite the final result. The Sharks move to 5–6 on the season and will look to build on the offensive positives as conference play continues.
