The Miami Dade Sharks Women's Soccer team dropped a tough 3–0 decision to top-ranked Daytona State College on Tuesday evening.
The Falcons flexed their No. 1 ranking early, scoring all three of their goals in the first half. Risako Abe broke through in the 10th minute to put Daytona on the board, followed by a strike from Shaneil Buckley in the 37th minute, assisted by Alex Lue Pann. Just before halftime, Susu Roberts extended the lead to 3–0 with Buckley providing the setup.
Despite the early deficit, the Sharks settled in defensively and kept the Falcons off the scoreboard in the second half. Goalkeeper Ashley Fonseca turned away four shots on goal and finished with six saves overall, holding Daytona scoreless after the break.
On the attacking end, Miami Dade managed three shots, with Camila Martins Viera and Luciana Mejia each putting one on target. The Sharks also earned a second-half corner kick but could not convert.
Miami Dade continues conference play looking to bounce back and build on the positives from their strong second-half performance.
