Miami Dade Dominates Salt Lake in Straight-Set Victory
The Miami Dade Sharks kicked off their volleyball season with a commanding victory over #4 ranked Salt Lake Community College in their opening game, showcasing a strong team effort across all areas of play.
Leading the charge was Luyeisy Marquez, who delivered an impressive performance with 10 kills on 22 attempts, hitting at an impressive .409 clip. Marquez also contributed defensively with three blocks, helping the Sharks dominate at the net.
Mia Martinez was key at the service line, firing off five aces, while Angelica Rodriguez bolstered the team's attack with five kills and chipped in defensively with five block assists. Esthefany Rabit also played a crucial role, adding four kills and leading the team with eight block assists, helping to stifle Salt Lake's offense.
Maria Clara Antunes orchestrated the offense with 17 assists, and Luiza Da Cruz was efficient in her role, contributing one kill and dishing out 10 assists. The Sharks' overall efficiency was reflected in their .218 hitting percentage, as they tallied 33 kills and kept their errors to a minimum.
On the defensive end, the Sharks were solid, with Martinez leading the team with 18 digs. The blocking game was also on point, with the team combining for 20 block assists.
Kiko Benoit's squad will travel next week to Blinn College as they will partake in the Kruse Kickoff Classic starting on August 30th.
