Sharks Continue Perfect Start
The top-ranked Miami Dade Sharks kept its undefeated start rolling with a dominant sweep over USC Lancaster on Friday, taking the match 25-16, 25-8, 25-13. With the win, the Sharks improved to 7-0 on the season.
Miami Dade found its rhythm right away, using a steady attack in the first set to set the tone before completely taking over in the second frame, holding the Lancers to a negative hitting percentage while cruising to a 25-8 victory. The Sharks then closed out the sweep in style, hitting .500 in the third set and never looking back.
Frances Vinuela and Angelica Rodriguez powered the offense with six kills apiece, while Luana Borsatto added five. Eleonora Gicheva controlled the floor with 18 assists and a match-high five service aces, and Luyeisy Marquez-Moreno served three more. At the net, Talibah Hamlett anchored the defense with seven block assists as Miami Dade racked up 24 total blocks.
