No. 3 Miami Dade Dominates Polk State
The No. 3-ranked Miami Dade Sharks continued their dominant run through conference play with a commanding 3-0 sweep over Polk State College on Wednesday night.
From the opening serve, Miami Dade controlled the tempo and never looked back. The Sharks opened the first set with a blistering .478 hitting percentage, led by Luyeisy Marquez-Moreno's eight kills and 11 total points. Angelica Rodriguez added seven kills and three blocks, while Azra Arslanoğlu chipped in five kills and a block assist.
Setter Eleonora Gicheva orchestrated the offense to perfection, dishing out 11 assists and serving six aces. Defensively, Katianna Mejía Betancur anchored the back row with 15 digs, helping hold Polk State to a -.098 team hitting percentage for the match.
The Sharks' dominance at the net was clear, totaling 14 block assists and holding the Eagles to just 17 total kills. Miami Dade finished the night hitting .292 as a team, with 11 service aces and 49 total points.
Miami Dade improves to 19-2 on the season and will return home for a matchup against Hillsborough Community College this Saturday.
