The Miami Dade College women's soccer team (1-0-1) earned its first win of the season in convincing fashion, cruising past Harford Community College (2-2) with an 8–0 shutout.
The Sharks controlled the pace from the opening whistle, outshooting the Fighting Owls 45–3 and piling up 12 corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Fonseca was solid in net, stopping all three shots she faced to secure the clean sheet.
Miami Dade built early momentum with first-half goals from Susan Santos (24th minute) and Betzael Contreras (39th minute), giving the Sharks a 2–0 lead at halftime.
The floodgates opened in the second half as the Sharks poured in six more goals. Julia Gurgel led the way with a brace, scoring in the 47th and 89th minutes. Camila Martins Viera, Kyara Ormazabal, Tessa Abreu, and Mariana Sanchez Gomez each added a goal of their own, with Ormazabal and Abreu also tallying assists.
Miami Dade's attack was relentless, with 18 shots on goal and eight different players contributing either a goal or an assist.
The Sharks will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup as they continue non-conference play against the Monroe University Mustangs in New Rochelle.
