#2 Miami Dade Sweeps Polk State at the Gib
The No. 2–ranked Miami Dade College Sharks continued its dominant run, earning a straight-set victory over Polk State College (25–16, 25–13, 25–11) to improve to 14–1 overall and 3–0 in conference play.
Miami Dade came out strong and never looked back, hitting an impressive .338 as a team while holding Polk State to just .011. The Sharks' balanced attack was led by Angelica Rodriguez, who posted 10 kills on .316 hitting, and Luyeisy Marquez-Moreno, who added 9 kills, 2 service aces, and 12 points. Freshman Veronika Petrova was nearly unstoppable in limited action, tallying 7 kills on .700 efficiency.
Setter Eleonora Gicheva once again orchestrated the offense with precision, dishing out 23 assists to go along with 9 digs and 3 aces, while libero Katianna Mejía Betancur anchored the back row with a match-high 16 digs. Eduarda Fabricio and Antonia Meiser also provided key contributions, combining for 6 kills and 3 service aces.
On the defensive side, Miami Dade out-blocked Polk 14–3, with Paulina Agudelo Marin, Maria Fernanda de Lima Varela, and Fabricio teaming up to close off the net. The Sharks also won the serving battle, landing 10 aces to just one for Polk.
Miami Dade returns to action next week as they take on Hillsborough Community College on the road before welcoming in #1 ranked Florida SouthWestern for their long awaited matchup.
